STEP BY STEP
COMMUNICATE
Just Like Home values communication and asking the community what they need. The team performs research on local shelters that takes people off of the streets and provides them shelter. Once a shelter is agreed upon, the team will communicate with the organization to see what their most needed item(s) is or are to best help people feel Just Like Home.
PLAN
The team manages current club funds to plan and run a successful fundraiser.
REACH
From money raised by the fundraiser, Just Like Home orders and buys numbers of the most needed item. All extra donations and items donated towards the cause will be included as well. Every item is then transferred to the shelter.
Interested Student?
Want to start a branch of Just Like Home in your own school? If so, we've got a guide below to help you on your way to make an impact on your local community! We welcome both domestic U.S and internationally located clubs.

Find a few friends to help you! You can follow the Andover board structure above. Having designated roles and jobs always makes running fundraisers and club meetings much easier.
​
Contact an adult for support. They can give invaluable feedback on fundraiser ideas, finances, and answer any of your questions!

Advertise yourselves around school, and make sure to be present at club rallies with your posters! Club meetings can be weekly or even bi-weekly. These are great opportunities to share with the club members on upcoming fundraisers, and opportunities to get involved with fundraisers.

Contact shelters, which provide long term housing to people, in need, and ask them what their most needed items are!

With your goals set, and a group of awesome people working together— your club is ready to go!

WHAT WE DO
We donate most needed items to support people moving from the streets into a home.
We agree. Fully. That's why we don't donate just one specific item. We ask various aspects of the community what they need, and we provide them.
​
Organisations we support provide shelter. It takes more resources to continuously donate goods to people on the streets than it takes to provide them long term shelter.
Don't tell a community what they need. Ask them.
Meet the Founder
Jenn is from New Jersey, lives in Hong Kong, and currently boards and studies at Phillips Academy Andover.
After both living and studying in opposite ends of the globe, Jenn has noticed the issue of homelessness as widespread and prevalent. With the belief that everyone should have access to a form of long term shelter, she started Just Like Home to better support shelters which take in people from the streets.
Furthermore, Jenn created this project based off of asking communities what their "most needed items" are to best maximise the impact of any and all items donated. In the process, she hopes the fundraisers, meetings, and friendships help participants work on their problem solving, creative thinking, and teamwork-related skills.
